How To Get Word For Mac To Stop Checking Spelling In A Different Language
To add to what gentmatt said, in the case you need to keep 'Automatic by Language' because you happen to write in different languages, click on 'Set Up' in the list shown for the Spelling option. On the dialog box that appears, you can change the order for the languages. In my case, this is the order I chose. In Word 2004, the equivalent of (no proofing) is checking the 'do not check spelling and grammar' box in Tools>Language, which is a format layered on top of language formatting. Maya 2008 mac keygen. So in Word 2004, when it says search for (no proofing) text, really you need to search for text with that 'do not check spelling and grammar' box checked.
This same thing happen to me and I tried everything this page suggested and it did not work. I opened a new document and copied my work over and it didn't work. So I opened a new word document and just typed random letter and tested if the red line would come under it. So I just retyped my words into that document. Thank god I caught it early or else I would be re-writing a 2000 word essay! Try and start a new word document, make sure you don't copy and paste the information though just retype it again manually. (hopefully you don't have too much to type!) Good Luck!
I've tried all of the suggestions on this thread and nothing has helped. I'm running a late 2013 MacBook Pro, El Capitan version 10.11.3. Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 Update 14.6.2. Word's Toolbox informs me that 'English (US) proofing tools are not installed.' I noted this problem several versions/updates ago and I've kept thinking that someone at Microsoft would finally diagnose the problem and correct it, but that has not happened. Word's Preferences pane shows that the Spelling and Grammar tools icon is dimmed out and simply won't open. I really would like to have this feature back as I am a long-time Word user and don't want to be pushed away from it because of this problem.

I recently upgraded the version of Microsoft Office on my computer and learned that my spell checker was no longer working! Usually, it would automatically show me misspelled words immediately if I mistyped them, however, after the upgrade, nothing was being marked. Even if I ran the spell checker manually, it would complete without marking or correcting any of the misspelled words! After doing some research, I found a couple of possible solutions. You might run into this problem in Word 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016.
